The Art kids from Habla Roosevelt will finally get a chance to show their Art to the world, where family and friends will be invited to join us in June to an exhibition, hosted by Colegio Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Student will be able to use different medias to figure their own style of art to portray and give out the message in their art piece that connects to the theme of the exhibition, "Never growing up".
But why Peter Pan?Peter Pan is Colegio Roosevelt's school play for 2017, where the Drama Department has worked for months on bringing this play to our schools performing arts center. The exhibition will be the introduction to the play, meaning that it will be located at the entrance of the theater, where the audience to the play will be able to enjoy an art show created by Habla Roosevelt students before the production. The connection to the play and the exhibition itself has given the students a theme that has influence their work to have a connection that is personal to them .

My Personal ConnectionI have a passion for Art, where it is like therapy for me. I feel calm and relaxed every time I draw, it is a get away to relieve stress from school. Habla Roosevelt has a Art activity, who has an Art teacher that comes every weekend to help out with the kids. The only problem was, I noticed that they never really got to showcase their work and show what they do, to people outside of the classroom. Because I am so interest in this subject, I decided that it would be a great opportunity for the kids and for myself as well. I will get the chance to take in charge and become the new art teacher. Also, I will get the chance to teacher certain skills and medias for them to use in their final product. My goal is to not only make the students stronger and feel free when painting/drawing, but also to make myself feel stronger and as a leader, by leading a group on my own.

The connection to my IB CourseAt Colegio Roosevelt, as an IB course, I take HL Visual Arts, which allows me to learn about different medias and different artist from all around the world. I have the liberty of exploring new ideas and creating my own pieces of work. One of the topic and unit that we got to do was to do a virtual exhibition and a curation. We got to learn how to create and exhibition and how to position them according to the message or theme we want to portray. The reason why they taught this to us is because in 2018 (our graduation year), we will need to apply this knowledge in our IB Art Expo. For this project, I will aply the same knowledge in how to present and show case art work in an exhibition and also use the tips and tricks we were taught in class. This includes, curatorial statement, introduction that explains the theme, exhibition text for each art piece, etc.
