What is Habla Roosevelt?
Habla Roosevelt is a playfully healthy way to unite the community, by offering English lessons to our workers' children for three hours a week.
Reflection:
LO 4 -Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences Habla Roosevelt divides volunteers into two group, A & B, and each group is required to help out every other Saturday depending on their schedule that they have been assigned to. In my case, I volunteer every Saturday with both groups from 8 am-12:00pm. Going to Habla Roosevelt, I got to see the level of commitment that everyone was putting into the club. Whether it was attending each weekend or almost never showing up, volunteers are constantly being watched over by the leaders, where they asses our level of engagement and interest to the club. As a high schooler and in the middle of IB, students like to use the weekend as the time to relax from school and catch up on sleep, but by being a part of this club, it made an impact on me by being more organized with my CAS and school work. By showing up frequently, the Habla kids would request me to help them to learn english. Some kids even came up to me and ask me if I were going to go the next session. I showed improvement on my level of commitment, that the kids even noticed and got to know me better, which made me feel happy and accomplished.
