Community Service is also an integral part of the Roosevelt expeirence. Direct, indirect and advocacy service is tied to a clear curriculum to help children become problem-solvers and active citizens who contribute to their communities and the world.
The high school students at Roosevelt are heavily committed to service initiatives throughout the year. They teach on Saturdays, build homes in impoverished communities, paint murals, play with students at orphanages, and travel to hospitals to learn and to serve. Students have come to see the impact they can have outside of the classroom when they join together, and they have taken full advantage of their ability to make a difference here in Lima.
