Our mission is to empower young people to collaborate locally, regionally, and globally in order to create project based sustainable solutions for our shared global issues; To recognize and nurture youth empowerment. -Global Issues Network
Our goal was to find a solution to figure out a better way into making our school transportation sustainable. My partner and I went through a series of interviews and surveys to gather out information to be able to figure out solutions to this issue. Colegio Franklin Delano Roosevelt has been trying to improve sustainability every day, and we thought of ways to start cutting emissions to benefit our community, our economy, and our health. We flew to Bueno Aires, Argentina to the Lincoln School to present this project the Global Issues Network conference. At GIN we were able to meet a lot of different people and different projects from all around the world. It was a learning experience to remember as we sat in many presentations and met with invited guest to talk about climate change and about their projects. After GIN in Argentina, we were later invited to present at the CLima conference that was hosted by our school. We presented the same presentation as we did in GIN, but this time our audience was local, so we were able to connect more as we talked about issues that they were aware about too.
